10 Years of OpenStack – Mohammed AbuAisha at Radix Technologies

Happy 10 years of OpenStack! Millions of cores, 100,000 community members, 10 years of you.

Storytelling is one of the most powerful means to influence, teach, and inspire the people around us. To celebrate OpenStack’s 10th anniversary, we are spotlighting stories from the individuals in various roles from the community who have helped to make OpenStack and the Open Infrastructure community successful.

Here, we’re talking to Mohammed AbuAisha from Radix Technologies. He tells the community about how he got started with OpenStack and his favorite memory from the last 10 years of OpenStack

How did you get started working with OpenStack and what are you doing now?

I started working with OpenStack with a client who we are working with, and the client has a product for orchestration which OpenStack was one of the top platforms we are integrated with. Right now I’m still working on the same product and I lead the OpenStack community in my country.

What is your favorite memory from the last 10 years of OpenStack?

Attending the Openstack Summit in Denver last year as was the first OpenStack Summit I’ve attended.

How did you contribute to the OpenStack community?

I give lectures, webinars, and organize gatherings in my community about OpenStack, and I’m planning to start contributing to one of the OpenStack projects soon.

What advice do you have for the Stacker community and other growing open source communities based on your experience with OpenStack?

Focus more on spreading and sharing your experience with others by establishing and attending events and webinars in your local community.

If I were to ask you in 2030, what do you think the OpenStack update will be?

I think the growth of OpenStack is going to keep going up and within 10 years from now I think the number of users, adopters of OpenStack will be increasing enormously. Within the era of 5G/6G, I think OpenStack will play a major role within a few years from now on. I also expect to see rising new projects from the OpenStack Foundation as well.
