Ceph in OpenStack BoF

Ceph is the most popular software-defined storage system used with OpenStack, providing multi-tenant block, object and recently also file storage, all integrated into the OpenStack project ecosystem. This session will be an opportunity for the myriad of architects and operators pairing Ceph with OpenStack to get together and discuss:

  • best practices and common deployment models
  • pain points
  • war stories
  • wish lists

Specific discussion points would likely include:

  • progress on hyperconverged deployments
  • Manila (and CephFS) status and adoption

Background:
With the introduction of the Forum and focus on PTG many of the operator sessions, that previously had their own sub-summit within the main OpenStack Summit, have trailed off. Some of these sessions were always very well attended (Ceph sessions being a good example), so the aim of submitting this session proposal, even if it doesn't strictly fit the Forum, is to at least make it known that these sessions need a home. There was an ML thread about this a couple of months back: [0].
