OpenStack Days-East Event Announces Featured Gartner Analyst Keynote

Donna Scott, vice president and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner, will keynote the first ever OpenStack Days-East event in New York City from August 23-24 speaking about the transformation of information technology to support traditional workloads, as well as new computing modes that include mobile, cloud, Internet of Things, big data and more.

In addition to Scott’s keynote, there will be more than 30 sessions covering topics including product, policy, development and best practices. The event is for anyone wanting to learn more about the OpenStack open source infrastructure as a service (IaaS) from some of the world’s pioneering users and thought leaders.

OpenStack East has drawn outstanding support from the OpenStack community with recently added sponsors including Canonical, DivvyCloud, Mirantis, OpenDaylight, Rackspace, Red Hat and SUSE. They join the seven initial sponsors Cloudify, Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, OpenStack, PLUMgrid, Talligent and Tesora. Further information about sponsorship opportunities is available at www.openstackeast.com/sponsors.

Also, non-profit, ScriptEd, has been selected as the charity sponsor. ScriptEd does training programs at under-resourced New York City high schools and helps students pursue careers in technology.

OpenStack East is expected to draw over 500 attendees bringing IT professionals, developers and OpenStack supporters together to share case studies, trends, and plans for the world’s fastest-growing open source project. Online registration can be found at www.openstackeast.com/register.

This community event is being guided by a steering committee that includes representatives from the east coast OpenStack Meetups and organized by Tesora, along with GigaSpaces.

The conference keynote presentations will include financial service, retail and telecommunications companies that have deployed OpenStack, such as Best Buy, Bloomberg LP, Comcast, Walmart, along with Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation. In addition, the conference will include technology panels, networking, and demo sessions from the most notable names in the OpenStack community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about new products, project updates, including a track dedicated to the OpenStack Trove database as a service (DBaaS) project.
