Leading adoption of OpenStack in Lenovo
Miro Halas is the founding member currently managing the software engineering team for Lenovo Cloud Technology Center. LCTC engineers are hired from community and work directly with OpenStack community contributing to upstream. LCTC is focused on cloud software solutions based on Lenovo ThinkCloud OpenStack platform available in China market and partner OpenStack technologies enhanced with Lenovo innovations available world-wide. Miro's responsibility for LCTC include strategy, software architecture, agile SDLC, software implementation and testing, hiring and mentoring of the engineering team as well as representing LCTC in workshops and conferences with customers, partners and community.
Before joining Lenovo Miro was responsible for engineering of Bank of America "Greenfield" private cloud platform. As part of this platform Miro had been deploying and operating OpenStack at scale since the "Grizzly" release. Miro was the engineering manager responsible for Cloud Management Platform (Application and Workload Orchestration/Automation/Modelling/Provisioning), two IaaS platforms (OpenStack and VMware), API management platform and Hypervisor Security Platform. Deeply involved in all aspects of the design, evaluation and implementation of software defined networking infrastructure, DNS/DHCP/IPAM platform and security infrastructure. Responsible for the vendor and solution selection of the hardware platform and multiple commercial off the shelf software platforms. Leading the hiring effort and responsible for mentoring of the technical team tasked with engineering and operating the platform.
Miro is also co-inventor and principal researcher, designer and hands-on implementor of secure trusted external cloud computing platform suitable for hosting sensitive workloads in external multi tenant cloud computing environments and I hold several patents in this space.
