My involvement with OpenStack began in 2012 when I worked as a support engineer, developing operational tools. In 2014, I transitioned to a full-time upstream developer role in OpenStack, which has provided me with many valuable opportunities. In the past, I have served as the Member & Chair of the OpenStack Technical Committee and as the PTL (Project Team Lead) of OpenStack QA. Currently, I am on the individual board of directors and a core developer for various projects, including Nova, QA, and several others.

The Open Infrastructure Foundation plays a crucial role in fostering a healthy community by connecting developers, users, service providers, and organizations. It also provides an excellent platform for all stakeholders to collaborate on open-source software for infrastructure development. In summary, OpenInfra is an essential pillar that adds business value to the Cloud Ecosystem.

My most significant contribution has been to improve software quality by thoroughly understanding use cases and requirements. I have also led community-wide goals aimed at achieving common improvements across all OpenStack projects, which help enhance consistency, usability, and maintainability.

Q

A

I have been serving on an individual board of directors since 2022 and have actively participated in board discussions. Additionally, I have been involved with the upstream community team for over 10 years, which has given me a deep understanding of the community's needs and gaps when it comes to building or improving software to better align with specific use cases and requirements.

The board plays a crucial role in any foundation. For the Open Infrastructure Foundation (OIF), it is essential to maintain transparency and openness within the community. This openness helps attract more organizations to become members and encourages new contributors to get involved. Additionally, the board supports and guides the OIF in various planning and activities, drawing from a diverse range of experience and expertise. This approach reinforces a central mission and motivates engagement in the development of open-source software.

OpenInfra is experiencing continuous growth and attracting global business. As a result, the board will play a crucial role in this development, focusing on several top priorities:

  •  Drive Strategic Planning: IN 2025, one of the significant steps was joining the Linux Foundation. Moving forward, we need to expand our presence to engage with other related communities under the Linux Foundation. This engagement is essential for the foundation's growth and sustainability.
  • Adapt to Changes: In light of recent developments, such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in the EU, advancements in AI, and various global economic challenges, the board should prepare for long-term sustainability. This involves planning for future scenarios and proactively working towards them.
  • Continue support for the OpenInfra Projects: The board should continue to engage with and support all OpenInfra projects, including OpenStack, Kata Containers, Airship, Zuul, and StarlingX. Maintaining a healthy community is a collective goal and vital for success. Currently, there is a pressing need for more contributors, particularly for OpenStack. These contributors are also essential for the basic maintenance of the community, supporting projects like CI/CD, QA, and release management. Therefore, effective strategic planning will be instrumental in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by OpenInfra projects.
