Bio

My Name is Christophe Sauthier, a french guy living in the nice city of Toulouse. Living with my wife and father of 2 beautiful small guys (of course).

I am the PTL (and co-father) for Cloudkitty, the rating component of OpenStack which I think is the thing I am the most proud of : being able to create a project from  an idea, and get it adopted by many clouds around the world. All that in the respect of the OpenStack standards. I gave many talks related to Cloudkitty and OpenStack to various events.

I am also CEO of a small french service company that I have funded 8 years ago : Objectif Libre. We only deals with Open Source Infrastructure (OpenStack/Docker/K8s/...). I have been really involved in the Ubuntu community then my life I crossed OpenStack..

I think that OpenStack shouldn't only focussed on big companies / deployments / projects but also take into considerations smaller one... I'd like to be that voice.

Speaker Profile:

Christophe is a candidate in the 2018 Board Election .

Q

What is your relationship to OpenStack, and why is its success important to you? What would you say is your biggest contribution to OpenStack's success to date?

A

I have been interested in OpenStack since day-1, attending many event OpenStack-related since that day including 9 OpenStack Summit.

I am also part of the french OpenStack community : I am the secretary of the NGO OpenStack.fr and the organiser of the OpenStack Toulouse meetup.

I have taken part of the organisation of the 2 OpenStack Days we had in Paris, that each gathered around 400 attendees.

Q

Describe your experience with other non profits or serving as a board member. How does your experience prepare you for the role of a board member?

A

I have been serving as president of the Ubuntu French community for almost 6 years, community that gathers more 4000+ attendees for its biggest annual event.

I have also been elected 2 times (during 4 years total) in the Ubuntu LoCo Council that manages all the Ubuntu local community in the world. Our role was to audit the various local community in order to gave them the "official" stamp. We were also there to manage issues between or inside local community.

Q

What do you see as the Board's role in OpenStack's success?

A

A board member is here to ensure that all the funding of the foundation is used in a good way. It is also the role of a board member to be sure that the OpenStack Foundation is always helping OpenStack.

Q

What do you think the top priority of the Board should be over the next year?

A

OpenStack is facing a major evolution over the last years with the increasing role of containers, the evolution of Networking with NFV. But we also see a different landscape in the community and the companies behind OpenStack.

We need to be sure to reflect that and to ensure that all every member of our community have a seat to that next evolution, whether it is a big or a small company, whether an individual or a company-funded member...
