PLUMgrid Showcases SDN for Containers and Virtual Machines at Red Hat Summit

PLUMgrid, a leader in virtual network infrastructure for OpenStack® clouds, will exhibit and present at Red Hat Summit to showcase industry’s most integrated SDN solution, PLUMgrid Open Networking Suite (ONS) for building secure, and scalable cloud networks.

News Facts
PLUMgrid is a sponsor and will exhibit at Booth #419 at Red Hat Summit, June 23-26, in Boston. PLUMgrid will offer on-site demos including network automation, SDN for containers and virtual machines, and service insertion architecture.
Fernando Sanchez, principal systems engineer and Brenden Blanco, network architect at PLUMgrid, will jointly present a session on “An Overview of Linux Networking Subsystem: Extended BPF” on Wednesday, June 24, at 7:00 pm. The session demonstrates how open source solutions available within the Linux kernel enable an extensible framework that satisfies the needs for automated and self-service network functions for data center and cloud virtualization.

PLUMgrid is a member of Red Hat Connect for Technology Partners, a program connecting Red Hat with their partners to accelerate solutions, business, and technology development.

Linux Networking and BPF
PLUMgrid will lead a session on enhancements in Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) which brings universal data plane extensibility into the Linux kernel. PLUMgrid has worked with the Linux community to contribute and upstream code to BPF to increase the flexibility of the Linux kernel for networking, tracing and security use cases. The enhancements have been leveraged by Linux developers worldwide to build in-kernel virtual network functions.

SDN for Containers
Containers offer application developers speed, efficiency and portability for spinning up apps and running them on a wide variety of environments, from virtual machines to bare metal, in both public and private clouds. As container adoption rises, data centers increasingly need secure and scalable virtual network infrastructure to connect applications and workloads.

At Red Hat Summit, PLUMgrid will demonstrate how PLUMgrid ONS provides a secure, scalable and extensible virtual network infrastructure to easily coordinate and secure applications in a container and virtual machine environment. PLUMgrid ONS is certified with the latest release of Red Hat OpenStack distribution, RHEL-OSP 6.

About PLUMgrid Open Networking Suite (ONS) for OpenStack
PLUMgrid ONS for OpenStack is a comprehensive software suite that enables secure and scalable virtual network infrastructure. Deployed by service providers and enterprises in more than 70 OpenStack clouds, PLUMgrid ONS provides terabits of scale out performance, production grade resiliency and secure multi-tenancy for hybrid data centers. Built on PLUMgrid Platform® and IO Visor® technology, the software suite lets users create private Virtual Domains to provide isolation, security and policy enforcement across tenants. Designated as OpenStack Compatible by the OpenStack Foundation, PLUMgrid ONS supports industry’s broadest set of distributions including Canonical, Mirantis, Oracle, Piston, Red Hat and SUSE.
