A “Strong Performer” Ranking Places Blue Box Among the 16 Most Significant Providers, Based on Criteria Scores including Pricing, Third-Party Ecosystem and Customer Satisfaction

SEATTLE, November 12, 2014 — Blue Box announced today that The Forrester Wave™: Hosted Private Cloud Solutions, Q4 2014 has placed Blue Box Cloud among the Strong Performers in the evaluation. The report details the independent research firm’s findings on how well each of 16 vendors fulfills enterprise customer requirements to help infrastructure and operations (I&O) pros select the right partner for their hosted private cloud solution.

In addition to Blue Box, the Forrester Research report includes analysis of offerings from Virtustream, Datapipe, CSC, HP, Dell, Joyent, CenturyLink, Rackspace, Verizon, AT&T, VMware, Canopy, Orange Business Services, and VooServers.

From the report: “Blue Box was the only vendor in the evaluation to provide three customer references… Blue Box’s key strengths include control options, strong user interface, support options, and a solid third-party ecosystem due to its OpenStack-based approach.”

Forrester analysts authoring the report, led by Lauren Nelson, divide the hosted private cloud market into two categories of vendors: 1) those that see it as a hosted version of a private cloud environment and 2) those that see it more as a dedicated version of a public cloud environment. We believe this second category closely aligns with the Blue Box vision of the market: Private Cloud as a Service.

Blue Box is an early innovator and leader in the private cloud as a service market. Blue Box Cloud offers the best of public and private cloud: agile provisioning, ease of use, and rapid implementation, combined with predictable economics and performance, data sovereignty and total environment control.

The Q4 Hosted Private Cloud Solutions Wave is the first appearance of Blue Box Cloud in the rankings. The service entered general availability in May of this year. Since then, the company has expanded its leadership team and closed a Series B financing. The product has both added new customers and expanded existing deployments while simplifying contract commitments, launching new capabilities and building a partner ecosystem.

“What an incredible year of momentum for our company. Our customers have spoken a resounding message: Blue Box Cloud solves their problems,” said Matthew Schiltz, CEO of Blue Box. “Now, we have third-party recognition of our private cloud as a service model, backed by a highly standardized OpenStack-based solution. We believe that this debut performance in the Forrester Wave will give customers and partners a greater understanding of the compelling value that only Blue Box Cloud is ready to deliver.”
