SEATTLE, Wash., USA February 4, 2015 — Blue Box—a Seattle-based provider of on-demand private cloud as a service (PCaaS) on dedicated hardware—is headed to London next month to kick off a proof of concept program aimed at helping European customers evaluate whether their workloads are prime candidates for private clouds powered by OpenStack.
The company is scheduling meetings at Cloud Expo Europe, March 11 and 12, at the ExCeL Exhibition Center. The expo is billed as the biggest and best-attended cloud event in the world.

“In the proof of concept program, we will partner with companies to understand if their next application modernization project requires the peculiar benefits of private cloud,” said Ken Cavallon, vice president of strategic business development and alliances at Blue Box. “At Cloud Expo Europe, European companies can self-nominate to participate in the program which will help them – and us – better understand the underlying value of an OpenStack-based managed private cloud within specific market sectors. We’re looking for participants in specific market sectors that have specific needs around workload control, performance, security and predictability. Those are the sectors and workloads best suited to private cloud environments.”
What’s in it for the Participants?
The proof of concept program is specifically targeting application use cases in media & entertainment, financial services, healthcare and retail. Participants will get the benefit of Blue Box Solution Development and R&D focused on solving their particular problem without having to make 100% of the investment on their own in exchange for post program participation in case-studies and marketing efforts of the resulting solution set. A limited number of candidates in each market sector will be admitted, and the program will wrap by mid 2015.
