Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Smart City Networks

Automated networks are essential for smart cities. A key enabler is the use of AI techniques and ML to drive network automation. AI and ML have seen a resurgence in investment with renewed promise because of 2 changes in recent years: availability of many more data points, and deployment of specialized silicon providing highly parallel computation increasing processing capacity for data processing making AI and ML technology less “brittle”. Expectation is ML can be utilized to train AI systems to recognize patterns in vast amounts of real time network telemetry data, providing early recognition of developing network performance issues, before they negatively impact human experience. Then policy driven AI systems can take automatic action to change the course of events, avoiding impacting user outages. This panel ML and AI explores architectures and techniques needed to automate smart city networks.

What can I expect to learn?

Panel will discuss current advances in machine learning (ML) and atrificial (AI) techniques, the requirements of smart city networks, and how ML and AI can be applied to build large scale and high performance networks for smart cities where network intrastructure will carry large volumes of IoT traffic and be shared.
