OpenStack and Cars – The OpenStack Journey of the Volkswagen Group

Ranking among the world’s second largest automaker with 9.9 million cars sold in 2015, the Volkswagen Group is a global leader in the field of manufacturing and innovation. The German company’s brands are sold in 153 countries and comprise the car manufacturers Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche, Skoda, Bugatti, SEAT, Bentley and Volkswagen.

Volkswagen is in the transition phase from an automotive producer to a mobility provider. To direct these market transitions and forge new business models, Volkswagen is in the process of reinventing the IT in order to accelerate business agility.

For this goal, we need new IT-solutions. In order to make the necessary IT-infrastructure within the VW Group faster, we rely on OpenStack.

During this session, we will share our experience (Project Onboarding, Operations, Integration of legacy services etc..) in implementing an OpenStack Environment in a large enterprise like Volkswagen Group.
