Mirantis: Integrating NVMe over Fabric into OpenStack

NVMe over Fabric is an exciting new technology capable of delivering ultra low latency, ultra high performance scalable storage based on the emerging industry standard. This presentation will provide a brief overview of this technology and demonstrate the Openstack integration.

NVMe over Fabric Openstack integration is being developed jointly by Intel and Mirantis. We added a new Cinder driver to support NVMe over Fabric reference implementation based on Intel SPDK (Storage Performance Development Kit) and modified Nova to support attaching NVMe over Fabric volumes to VMs. We will be demonstrating this functionality using few
components from our parters such as Mellanox NICs (for RDMA support) and SuperMicro NVMe target. Future plans for this project include upstreaming into the Ocata release and delivering performance benchmarks.
