Security Issues in Managing IoT Devices Using OpenStack

Managing large number of IoT devices using open stack in a trusted manner is a challenge. This presentation addresses the key security issues involved and a plausible solution for them.

IoT device market projections are in trillions of dollars and their numbers are exploding. However, security issues not only plague OpenStack, but also in managing IoT devices. With all the hype, due to security issues, open stack has not totally captured people's mind as the best way to manage IoT devices. This talk addresses:

- why Security is still an issue

- What are the main obstacles in open stack in adopting its for managing IoT deviecs

- Possible solutions

- Possible security models based on Risk Analysis for IoT devices

- Major Vulnerable components

At the end of the day, it will be nice to have a hardened, pre-configured, secure well tested open stack distro to manage IoT devices that developers, Admins, IT architects can use that executives can approve of low cost. Yet, such secure solutions are not available.

This talk will address such details with potential solutions.
