The Must-Attend

Open Infrastructure Event

The open infrastructure landscape is changing, and so is the Summit. Now that users are integrating dozens of open source tools into a modern stack that reaches well beyond the scope of OpenStack, we’re re-organizing the event to focus on specific problem domains like container infrastructure, edge computing and CI/CD and we are focusing on the hard work of integrating all of these tools developed in disparate communities. This is the essential work of 2018 and beyond, to ensure that open infrastructure is truly a viable path for operators.

Government use of OpenStack in Australia

Rupert Taylor-Price, CEO and founder of Vault Systems, will share his extensive knowledge of the use of OpenStack in the Australian Government. Vault leveraged the simplicity and openness provided by OpenStack to build one of the world’s most secure cloud platforms exclusively for use by the Australian Government. Vault is only one of two companies globally to gain Australian Signals Directorate certification for the storage and processing of classified data.

Rupert will share his experiences in working with major Government Departments, including the Digital Transformation Agency, Department of Health, Defence and Australian intelligence community. He will discuss how Government has benefited from the use of OpenStack to deliver digital services and solutions across a robust and secure platform. Rupert will also provide insights on how Government policies currently being developed will shape the cloud services industry over the next 2-3 years and what this means for OpenStack.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will leave the presentation with an understanding of:

  • How OpenStack is currently used by the Australian Government. This will be illustrated through the use of real-life case studies.
  • Strategies used by Vault to overcome the initial reluctance of key decision makers within Australian government agencies to adopt cloud technologies.
  • Insights into how government policies currently being developed will shape the cloud services industry over the next 2 to 3 years and what this means for OpenStack.
