Big challenge is to deploy OpenStack as a first public cloud in Thailand with self-portal and 50+ compute nodes and more than 700 active VMs. In this session. we will share our experiences in building OpenStack public cloud from scratch. Our first major challenge is to make Ocata OpenStack easily for general audiences instead of using Horizon. We build our own platform with user interface to reduce the complexity of OpenStack to make it easier. When we scale compute nodes, we found problem in RabbitMQ because the need to communicate efficiently. Major bugs were discovered in Openstack components make us decide to update to Ocata to latest version successfully without any downtime. Additionally we have encountered control plane resources hitting full capacity. Operations are very important and obstacles are encountered when we increased compute nodes. Live migration is critical to minimize customer service downtime.
Learn to build, operate & scale OpenStack as a public cloud as well as how to develop self-portal to interface with OpenStack API. Problem solving and managing instants without downtime from experience will be shared with audience.
