Edge computing is definitely one of the most promising technologies in the industry, as there are manifold scenarios that need to be achieved through it, such as IoT, AR/VR, autonomous vehicles and smart cities, which all requires low latency, high bandwidth and quick processing. Therefore, massive companies and organizations have paid attention to this field and try to deliver open source solutions to fulfill the needs inside the market. In this presentation, we are going to go through a list of existing solutions from various companies/organizations which focus on different layers, such as Akraino, StarlingX, KubeEdge, OpenEdge, CORD, ioFog, EdgeX and etc, to measure the difference and also demonstrate their focus, pros and cons, and future plans. This presentation intend to provide a comprehensive comparison for the existing edge solutions from different aspects, describe their current status, prospects. Hence provide some reference for users while selecting the solutions.


What can I expect to learn?

Edge Computing is one such emerging technology which is already playing an important role in different scenarios such as MEC, smart city, etc, by enabling quick decision making by analyzing the data at the edge of the network. It is also the key technology to accomplish the landing of 5G, IoT which would totally transform the industry. Massive companies are promoting their new products in this area to occupy the market. So what are the available open source products in the market now? What’s the relationship and different between them? What’s their pros and cons against each other? This session intend to give our audience a whole picture of the existing solutions focusing on edge computing, their features, which scenario do they suit for and also their current status.
