A terrific trio of lightning talks about Ansible and OpenStack, from Clint Byrum, Doug Hellman, and Lars Kellogg-Stedman.

With BonnyCI, we are working to provide Zuul as a service to the broader

open source world.

Zuul is a system that OpenStack's development infrastructure uses

to schedule and orchestrate test resources across repositories and

interact with them via Ansible.

To deploy Zuul and its support systems, we use Ansible in the most

germane way.

And to provision computers/disks/networks/etc. for all of that, we use

Ansible's os_* modules to provision resources on our OpenStack cloud.

And since we believe in testing deployments, we test our own deployment

with BonnyCI itself.

In summary: we're using Ansible to provision computers to run Ansible

on to deploy a CI system that runs Ansible to deploy and test Ansible

that deploys a CI system that runs Ansible to test software.

In this talk we'll discuss:

- Do the os_* modules really work and how can we best use them?

- Best practices for deploying apps with Ansible into a cloud

Moving Workloads Between OpenStack Clouds with Ansible (Doug Hellmann)
- Abstract: This presentation will describe a new tool that can be used to move tenant workloads out of one OpenStack cloud and import them into another cloud, using ansible playbooks as the intermediate data format. The tool is being created as part of a suite of tools for managing migrations for upgrades, but can also be used to move between public cloud providers or to capture in a playbook the configuration steps performed manually through the OpenStack UI. The presentation will cover design constraints, use cases, and implementation details of the tool and the playbooks it generates.
Driving OpenStack with Ansible: Jenkins + Ansible + Heat (Oh my!) (Lars Kellogg-Stedman)
- Abstract: An overview of how we use Ansible as part of a Jenkins workflow to build disk images, provision a test environment using Heat, and then run validation tests on the Nova instances we just created, including practical examples of how to use the Ansible OpenStack modules.
