Red Hat - Big Telecom in Japan, KDDI, Collaborates with NEC and Red Hat to Complete Successful Trial of Next Generation Enterprise Platform

KDDI is one of the largest telecom operators in Japan, with a wide range of business within the telecom and networkservices industry. Last year, KDDI, decided to look at a next generation enterprise platform using OpenStack, and decided to partner with Red Hat and NEC. KDDI named the project CKKB, the overall goal of the CKKB project was to reduce the operation cost by 90%. Though at first it may not sound big, this is in fact an aggressive undertaking and requires a drastic change to current operation and management of big telecom company. In this session, we will introduce CKKB’s concept and architecture. One of the unique concepts is the separation of infrastructure and services. This architecture is challenging in nature, but that is very useful for other users such as telecom or large enterprise who would like to create platform commonly used by different type of services include enterprise, cloud services, and NFV
