NBI/SBI Modeling Requirements for Nirvana Stack

NFV has driven the Telcos to a brave new world of virtualization and at the same time, to a diversity of choices for many of the building blocks, e.g. VNFs, SDN controllers and orchestration. We need to address the challenge of balancing between innovations and practical realities while selecting best solution for today and future.

The concept of “Nirvana Stack” providing basic cloud management and orchestration, SDN controller and services, supported by high performance Server data plane, i.e.  a broadly agreed set of building blocks that vendors and operators can develop together to accelerate innovation and deployment. However, any agreement on functionality, API, data model etc. is potentially subject to being outdated and rendered less relevant as the next wave of innovation is trolled out.

We will explore benefits, potential drawbacks, proposed mechanisms, alternatives etc. that may help us balance these two competing pressure by focusing on the topic of NBI and SBI.
