In this session, we'll define what highly available instances are, explain why it is important to users, show how to effectively manage mixed pet and cattle workloads and show how highly available instances relate to Service Level Agreements. Additionally we'll cover the state of Instance Ha, what is supported now and what's coming in the future.
Service level agreements with clients are key to being successful whether it be a private or public OpenStack cloud. Just having a highly available Openstack installation may not be enough to satisfy that requirement. Highly available instances takes Openstack to the next step, ensuring that evacuable instances stay up and running when a compute node or hypervisor unexpectedly goes down. This session will address several uses cases related to the need for evacuable and non-evacuable instances and how they relate to SLA contracts.
