AT&T has rapidly deployed more than 80 AIC zones over the past two years; on track for 100 this year. Behind the scenes we have scaled out pipelines enabling iterative development, production reference architecture deployments, and hardware integrated Full Continuous Deployment. These improvements have enabled more frequent releases providing community flexibility, while ensuring enterprise stability. Operational demands of rapid patching moved us from Ansible playbooks to a robust industry-standard mechanism to guarantee state and prevent drift using Lifecycle Management (LCM) and Puppet.
AIC is transitioning to a containerized infrastructure and control plane which includes a redefined set of pipelines, participating in and contributing to the community, and preventing lock-in by ensuring community support. As we evolve, the container-based (CI/CD)2 experience is a first class citizen available for everyone to consume, expand, and participate.
