This presentation introduces the network traffic logging feature which is
proposed to Neutron, and explain by demonstration how it works,
especially gathering log data using Monasca.
OpenStack network is highly virtualized by Neutron, and therefore it is
very difficult to understand how network packets are processed. A
traffic log is necessary to investigate network problem. We introduce a
packet logging feature to monitor the behaviors of Security Group at
network ports. This feature is helpful to make sure network access rules
work as expected, and troubleshoot network problems easier.
To manage the logs in a centralized way we leverage Monasca's
Logging-as-a-Service functionality. Using it all the queries that are
performed are scoped to a tenant/project, so that every user can access
only his data.
In this presentation we will give a demonstration of this feature and show
how you can see network packet logs using Monasca.
Attendees can learn as follows:
- An architecture and usage of Neutron packet logging feature
- Operations that show how to manage logging data in cloud system by using Neutron and Monasca
