Continuous Delivery of Stateful Applications Using Cinder at Paddy Power Betfair

When deploying databases such as mysql or informix and stateful applications such as Kafka on OpenStack then persistance of state between deployments is vitally important. This presentation will show how Paddy Power Betfair uses Ansible to carry out immutable deployments of stateful applications on OpenStack by seperating out the data onto Cinder volumes while the application version sits at the OS level. This talk will consist of a live demo showing one of our stateful production applications being immutably deployed and we will walk users through each step of the deployment pipeline showing how we automed this process.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will learn how to deploy stateful applications using Cinder on OpenStack while keeping the deployment immutable. They will learn what Ansible modules can be used to achieve this and how we designed the deployment pipeline.
