Fire Up the Build: A Hands-On Workshop with the Heat Orchestration Service

So you finally had a chance to create some instances, networks, and volumes.  How do you bring it all together with a single click? Join us as we take OpenStack beginners on an immersive interactive journey through Heat, the OpenStack orchestration service.  This workshop provides an easy-to-understand introduction to the world of Heat by not only presenting a fun look at the history of cloud orchestration, but a step-by-step walkthrough on leveraging the power of Heat Orchestration Templates to easily fire up an OpenStack application in seconds!

Please note:  session attendance does have a maximum capacity.  All admittance will be on a first come, first served basis.  Thank you for your understanding.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will first learn about the history of cloud orchestration and the origin of Heat.  A comprehensive review of Heat infrastructure will show attendees how the project fits into the overall OpenStack ecosystem.  Each participant will then gain hands-on Heat experience by accessing a live OpenStack environment where they will learn real-world use-cases to create Heat templates and orchestrate cloud resources, including images, instances, volumes, networks, routers, and load balancers.   By the end of this workshop, participants will walk away with the confidence to edit and deploy Heat templates in their organization's OpenStack environment!

Wednesday, May 10, 1:50pm-3:20pm (5:50pm - 7:20pm UTC)
