Ironic Inspector was introduced during the Kilo cycle (under the name of ironic-discoverd) to allow inspection of hardware properties required for Ironic. Since then, we’ve found even more uses for deep inspection of hardware served by Ironic.
This session gives a quick introduction into Ironic Inspector, its role in bare metal provisioning and Ironic Inspector's pluggable architecture, and how it provides smarter processing of the inspection data.
You’ll also learn about extended features introduced in the Liberty and Kilo cycles, such as inspection rules, support for Ironic Python Agent, and plug-in hooks for interaction with CMDBs. The session will conclude with future plans, including node auto-discovery and high-availability.
The attendees will learn how to use Ironic Inspector for basic inspection and how it integrates with the bare metal service (Ironic). They will also learn which advanced features Ironic Inspector can offer for more detailed inspection and how to use them. FInally, they will learn about our future plans and how to get involved.
