Glance Image Import is here ... now it's time to start using it!

The long-awaited Image Import Refactor has been delivered in Pike, and there has been much rejoicing!  The delivery is a Minimal Viable Product that enables development for a lot of popular use cases, and sets the stage for more to come in Queens.  We want to tell you what's currently available to you, and what you can do to help us get the features that will be most useful to you into the next releases.

Glance Image Import was carefully designed with community input from many people and many OpenStack projects to be interoperable and discoverable.  We'll explain exactly what that means, why it's so important, and what it means for you as a cloud operator, cloud administrator, or cloud user.

This single API workflow which lets operators and tooling developers define and users choose a way they want to upload image data makes uploads more performant and flexible.  And did we mention that it's fully interoperable and discoverable?  We want to tell you all about it.

What can I expect to learn?

Attendees will hear from two Glance core contributors who've been involved in the design and implementation of the new image import feature since its inception at the Mitaka summit.  You'll learn exactly what comprises the Minimal Viable Product delivery of this feature and how it can be used to meet some popular use cases.  This feature was designed from the ground up to meet real life requirements based on the feedback collected from users and deployers in a way that fills the interoperability gap that has been growing throughout the OpenStack ecosystem.
We will also walk through some possible usecases that have been brought up which could be implemented in the future when the feature gains maturity. We'll also discuss what you as operators, users and developers can do to help us complete this important work.
