Which is the best way to install Kubernetes on OpenStack?

Kubernetes has become a de facto standard for container orchestration engines. But it's difficult to choose the way to install Kubernetes on OpenStack which you want, because there are so many tools and ways to deploy Kubernetes such as following.

  • Kops
  • Kubeadm
  • Kubespray
  • Rancher
  • Tectonic
  • Magnum

Each tool have advantages and disadvantages respectively. For example, magnum is the most easiest way to deploy Kubernetes on OpenStack, however it is often not offered at your OpenStack cloud.Kops is a official way in Kubernetes community, but it doesn't support OpenStack, and so on.
In this session, we will provide the pros and cons from several viewpoints (such as architecture and support status) to select the optimum way to install Kubernetes in your OpenStack environment for troubling OpenStackers.

What can I expect to learn?

When choosing a tool you will be wondering whether the tool can withstand your production environment. We installed the Kubernetes in our environment and evaluated it from the following viewpoints. I would like to share it in this session.

  • HighAvailability
  • Scalability
  • Operability
  • Supported Plugins(Network, Storage)
  • Supported OS
  • Architecture
  • Community
