World's First All Virtualized Mobile Network on OpenStack Including vRAN.
Many operators virtualized their network partially on NFV using OpenStack. However, Rakuten Mobile went not only one, but a few steps further. The whole mobile network, which is mission critical by nature, has been virtualized on OpenStack including Radio Access Network (vRAN) requiring micro-second latency. This presentation introduces the overall architecture of Rakuten Mobile's fully virtualized E2E mobile cellular network, and focuses on the unique features never seen before in any other mobile network.
