Update on placement extraction from nova

In Berlin we had a Forum session on the details of the work to extract the placement service from nova [1]. Some of the plans changed throughout the Stein release but placement is now an official OpenStack project under TC governance [2] and the placement API was unfrozen. However, the old placement code still exists within nova in Stein to ease with upgrades *to* Stein. Deployment projects are working on supporting installing the extracted placement service for greenfield Stein installs, and work is underway for the upgrade/data migration work as well. This session will cover what happened in Stein, what the plan is for Train, and what deployment tool developers and operators need to be prepared for when the placement code is removed from nova (which is planned for Train).
