Travel Support Program

The OpenStack Travel Support Program's aim is to facilitate participation of key contributors to the OpenStack Summit by covering the costs for their travel and accommodation. The OpenStack Foundation will set aside a fund to support this program. If you are a key contributor to OpenStack and your company does not cover the costs of your travel and accommodation to Berlin, you can apply for the Travel Support Program. The total amount of the fund is to be divided among the approved key contributors.

For the Vancouver Summit, individuals contributed $8,398 to the Travel Support Program. Combined with funds from the OpenStack Foundation, 38 attendees were sponsored to attend the Summit. If you would like to contribute to the Berlin Summit Travel Support Program, donate here. 

Additional Information

  • The deadline to apply for Travel Support is August 30, 2018
  • All contributors to OpenStack (developers, documentation writers, organizers of user groups around the world, Ask moderators, speakers, translators, etc) are invited to submit a request. You can apply by filling out this form.
  • Approved grantees will be notified the week of September 11, 2018.

How to apply for a Visa

To find out what type of visa you require to travel to Germany, and if you require a visa invitation letter, please visit this webpage before filling out the form. 

As a general planning guideline, if a visa is needed, a foreign traveler should apply for his or her visa as soon as possible, preferably no later than 60 days before the travel date.

Visa Invitation Letter request

Requests for invitation letters must be received before October 30, 2018. 

We will send your visa invitation letter to the email you provide on this form. No hard copies will be sent. Visa letters will be issued within a 5 business day turnaround timeframe, beginning June 18. Please do not follow up before then. If you have questions please email [email protected].
