Over the past 3 years Paddy Power Betfair have presented our OpenStack story at a number of summits. From design, solving our technical challenges, how we built our private cloud and how we moved all our workloads to OpenStack.
The next stage in this trilogy is how are we managing, reporting, upgrading , scaling out and supporting our OpenStack Cloud. This will be an unashamedly warts and all story of how the challenges we have faced have changed and where the pain points are.
We will discuss capacity planning, how we have upgraded our OpenStack cloud with thousands of different applications running 24/7 , how we have measured and driven our MTBF and MTTR metrics and what OpenStack has allowed us to do.
Designed to go hand in hand with a techncal upgrade presentation, this will be a higher level overview , a chance to learn from our mistakes! as well as to perhaps a few good idea. We will touch on how we are approaching hybrid cloud and the new challenges this has brought.

You will hear about how the challenge you face changes as you move through the design / build / adopt cycles and move to maintenance. We will present the solutions and strategies we have adopted to address upgrade issues, hardware failures, we will discuss the areas where we have moved from a start up style approach to a more formal enterprise supporting structure and those areas where we still haven't.
