You run OpenStack and want Kubernetes? Magnum to the rescue.
In this workshop, we'll introduce you to the basics of OpenStack Magnum. You'll also learn about the basics of Kubernetes, and will then deploy your own Kubernetes cluster template, and a Kubernetes cluster, to your Magnum environment. Then, you'll use your brand-new Kubernetes cluster for a deployment of several interconnected services, and be introduced to service storage persistence and scaling. This is as hands-on as it gets, and you'll be going from zero to Kubernetes to running application in 90 minutes.
This tutorial is both for Kubernetes novices, and for people with extensive Kubernetes experience who happen to be OpenStack or Magnum novices. You will gain useful, production-relevant insight into running Magnum and OpenStack, and the tutorial will enable you to make an informed decision whether Magnum and Kubernetes are the right option for you. You will take away an understanding of Pods, Services and Volumes as they relate to Kubernetes, as well as higher level abstractions like ReplicaSets and Deployments. There will be further knowledge of how YAML files work with Kubernetes, and how you can write your own YAML files to apply to your own infrastructure. You will walk away with the ability to deploy your first web application onto Kubernetes.
