OpenStack Optimization Stories: China Railway’s Journey

China is quickly emerging as a global powerhouse for some of the most complex and advanced OpenStack deployments to date.  With an impressive and engaged developer community, a concerted government-led effort to upgrade the country’s IT infrastructure and a unique set of technology challenges, China is an ideal environment to realize the benefits of open web technologies—scalability, interoperability, agility and efficiency.  In this session, China Railway will share details of their migration to OpenStack, and of the scaling and tuning they have done across all layers of their OpenStack cloud in support of their business.  We’ll show how new technologies – such as 10G NICs and Intel® Optane™ SSDs – were utilized to improve performance.  China Railway will also share best practices for tuning key parameters of OpenStack control plane and data plane for their mission-critical workloads.
