OpenStack-Helm: The Ideal Solution for Telco Cloud Life-Cycle Management

This talk will provide an overview of OpenStack-Helm and OpenContrail-Helm integration and how this combined platform provides an ideal solution for Telco Cloud VNFs and Applications. We will demonstrate real VNF workloads within this combined stack and the advantages of Kubernetes and Helm orchestrating these stacks.  With built-in functionality such as health checking, rolling updates, and other features we will show performing changes to the underlying OpenStack and SDN platform without impacting these VNF workloads.

What can I expect to learn?
  • Learn about how the two projects worked together to apply similar practices to achieve cloud native principles
  • See first hand OpenContrail running as a containerized service within Kubernetes and orchestrated by helm and fully integrated with OpenStack-Helm.
  • Understand the resiliency and software delivery benefits of running containerized applications inside Kubernetes, including complex applications such as OpenContrail and OpenStack.
  • How Telco Cloud VNFs will benefit from this architecture and can use OpenStack, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenStack-Helm, and OpenContrail-Helm to construct a platform for VNFs which are quickly evolving towards cloud native principles.
