Optimizing Ceph Performance by Leveraging Intel® Optane™ and 3D NAND TLC SSDs

The disrupted Intel® Optane SSDs based on 3D Xpoint technology fills the performance gap between DRAM and NAND based SSD while the Intel® 3D NAND TLC is reducing cost gap between SSD and traditional spindle hard drive and makes it possible for all flash storage. In this session, we will

1) Discuss OpenStack storage Ceph reference design on the first Intel Optane (3D Xpoint) and P4500 TLC NAND based all-flash Ceph cluster

2) Share Ceph BlueStore tunings and optimizations, latency analysis, TCO model, IOPS/TB, IOPS/$ based on the reference architecture

3) Present the Ceph BlueStore tail latency analysis with Optane
