Strategic Distributed and Multisite OpenStack for Business Continuity and Scalability Use Cases

CIO and other executive level business leaders are constantly challenged to provide alway-on solutions to their customers at the highest levels of performance, scale and availability. As OpenStack continues to mature and gain credibility for use in the production datacenter, these same leaders who have chosen or who are considering OpenStack as a trusted infrastructure are now facing the next wave of strategic decisions around business-critical topics such as disaster recovery, scalability, compliance and overall cost of ownership. Can they provide the same service level agreements, regulatory compliance, and cost savings for the new systems and applications they entrust to OpenStack that they provide on other traditional platforms?

In this interactive session, we will discuss personas and user stories that need answers to these questions. We'll also explore other questions that need to be considered when promoting OpenStack for critical systems and applications.

What can I expect to learn?

In this interactive session, we will identify personas, user stories and use cases that need to be considered when promoting OpenStack for business-critical systems and applications. Attendees will learn about the current multi-site deployment capabilities in Ocata and how they apply to Disaster Recovery and Scale. We will present some basic and targeted reference architectures to help drive an interactive discussion and attendee participation. We will also look ahead to Pike and beyond to explore some of the key enabling upstream projects and the gaps that need to be addressed and filled for a complete distributed OpenStack solution to be realized in these critical operational areas.
