Deploying and managing a large OpenStack deployment can be daunting, but much easier when you use standard DevOps automation tools, a Linux-based network, and commodity servers and switches. This session details the design and implementation of an L3 network underlay, routing to the host, and a hardware VXLAN gateway used with an enterprise OpenStack distribution on 300+ OpenStack compute nodes.
- Understand the different choices and deciding between network topologies (L2 vs. L3)
- Use DevOps automation tools to scale out all switch configs simultaneously
- Incorporate white-box network switches into new and existing OpenStack deployments
- Understand the full bill of materials (BOM) that was used for testing
