Installing, Configuring, and Managing a 300+ OpenStack Node Network In Under An Hour

Deploying and managing a large OpenStack deployment can be daunting, but much easier when you use standard DevOps automation tools, a Linux-based network, and commodity servers and switches. This session details the design and implementation of an L3 network underlay, routing to the host, and a hardware VXLAN gateway used with an enterprise OpenStack distribution on 300+ OpenStack compute nodes.

What can I expect to learn?
  • Understand the different choices and deciding between network topologies (L2 vs. L3)
  • Use DevOps automation tools to scale out all switch configs simultaneously
  • Incorporate white-box network switches into new and existing OpenStack deployments
  • Understand the full bill of materials (BOM) that was used for testing
