City Network, a leading provider of cloud services built on OpenStack, today announced that Blockchain HELIX has chosen its compliant cloud solution for future development of their Digital Identity solutions. Blockchain HELIX vision is to enable a trusted and secure digital economy and society by providing a blockchain based digital identity-service.

Based in Germany, the company is currently undergoing an ICO and estimate to launch its first public MVP later this autumn. For this, the City Network GDPR compliant, open-source based and scalable it-infrastructure City Cloud Compliant Cloud will be an important part of the delivery model.

“In our work to establish a blockchain based digital identity, partnering with innovative partners is a key strategy. For our business, trust, compliance and openness cannot be underestimated. With its European heritage and infrastructure built on open source with all compliance and regulatory certificates in place, City Network is a uniquely positioned IaaS-provider and they will be an important and strategic partner to Blockchain HELIX,” said Oliver Naegele, Founder & CEO of Blockchain HELIX.

A key part in delivering a digital identity service based on blockchain, with a high level of trust, is to be able to tell the end users, consumer or company, where the data is residing. City Cloud Compliant Cloud makes this possible, and in combination with keeping the trust in the blockchain, Blockchain HELIX will be able to deliver its service. Initially, Blockchain HELIX will base its operations from City Networks compliant cloud nodes in Frankfurt and Stockholm.

“Our ambition is to always enable innovation and to help transform old business models to new and digital ones. Therefore, we are excited to partner with such an innovate and disrupting business as Blockchain HELIX and we are looking forward to be a part of their innovative digital identity service,” said Johan Christenson, CEO and founder of City Network.

City Network’s cloud services are built on the open infrastructure platform OpenStack and as such, a contributor to the OpenStack project, a global collaboration project that is backed by OpenStack Foundation.

“Open infrastructure forms the foundation of public clouds that satisfy the compliance, sovereignty and performance challenges enterprises face while increasing control for the end user. OpenStack is one of the core technologies driving the growth of open public clouds in Europe and beyond, and it's exciting to see community members like City Network helping bring OpenStack to emerging use cases like blockchain,” said Mark Collier, COO, OpenStack Foundation.
