InMotion Hosting was founded in 2001 due to the availability of Open Source software, and we greatly attribute the company’s success to the Open Source community. With our immense respect for Open Source, we have ingrained it into our business. Over the past 20 years, InMotion Hosting has grown from a two-person company to over 400 employees, hosting over a million websites worldwide. While we're still considered a small business, we are doing big things. That's why we want to share our successes through our products and services with other small businesses looking to grow. OpenStack is the top Open Source cloud management system that has primarily been used by large enterprises or hosting and cloud providers like InMotion Hosting. However, we believe that OpenStack is a cost-effective Cloud Solution with built-in Security and Governance while being Open Source, we believe it belongs in the overall Cloud Ecosystem of today.
InMotion Hosting wants to give back to the Open Source community in various ways, starting with official sponsorships. We have become a Corporate Sponsor of OpenStack, and plan to become an LF Silver Member of the Ceph Foundation and the Linux Foundation. We contribute to OpenStack regularly, as we are active users who locate and report bugs in the IRC channels. Between our own use of OpenStack, the creation of our latest product, and in-depth documentation around it, we are making OpenStack more accessible and usable for small businesses.
InMotion Hosting is currently developing a new product: Flex Metal, which is an On-Demand Private Cloud using OpenStack and Ceph storage, and is hyperconverged with SSD, NVME, and Spinners. We will provide up-front pricing, no hidden paywalls, usage-based billing, all at a cost-effective rate that allows small to medium-size companies to expand their skills and knowledge on OpenStack. Users can deploy safely in a production-ready environment in 15 minutes with the assistance of our trained support team. All of our supporting content will help guide those who want to test and explore on their own. Keeping the Open Source mindset, this content will be publicly available to anyone. Finally, we plan to expand our services out with OpenStack partners to help co-manage and deploy hybrid clouds for any Flex Metal customer.
