Bio

Chris serves as Principal Solutions Architect for SolidFire - now part of NetApp, specializing in cloud infrastructure, devops, DBaaS, and open source databases. An internet services database veteran, he began his journey creating web technologies in 1994, and has been focused on solving the challenges of scaling data systems ever since.

For over a decade, Chris was immersed in global hosting infrastructure at NTT/Verio, overseeing database systems for the world's largest telecoms and global hosting providers. He rejoined the tech startup community in 2010 with MapMyFitness (now Under Armour Connected Fitness), architecting multi-terabyte database systems and full-stack DevOps infrastructure to serve tens of millions of users on a daily basis.

As a cross-categorical database technologist and automation zealot, his goal is to fundamentally change the nature of the database/cloud relationship as it exists today. Chris resides at 9,000ft in the mountains above Boulder, CO, is a dedicated father of four, and a part-time musician.
