Jan Heichler holds a degree in Computer Science from the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (Germany). During his studies he got in contact with compute clusters and developed and implemented parallel algorithms. After finishing his studies he worked for the european system integrator transtec as HPC engineer and got hands-on experience installing systems all over Europe. Jan left transtec and joined ClusterVision – a european system integrator spezialized in HPC-computing and HPC-storage systems. As pre-sales engineer and lead system architect for the german speaking market he designed some of the fastest and most energy efficient systems. During his time at ClusterVision he got in contact with parallel filesystems, such as Lustre and FhGFS/BeeGFS and took the opportunity to join ThinkParQ – a spin off from a german Fraunhofer Institute to bring their product FhGFS/BeeGFS to the market. Jan joined DDN in 2015 as a System Engineer based in Europe.
