Bio

Dinesh Subhraveti is the CTO and cofounder at AppOrbit. He developed the core principles behind containers and its first implementation as a part of his Ph.D. dissertation. Published in 2002, his work showed for the first time that enterprise applications could be virtualized and live-migrated. Applying his early research, Dinesh drove development of the industry's first container virtualization product for enterprise Linux applications at Meiosys, the company behind Linux Containers and LXC that IBM acquired in 2005. Dinesh has authored numerous research papers and patents on a wide range of systems topics including containers,  virtualization, checkpoint-restore, live-migration and record-replay. He holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science from Columbia University.
