Architecture for public cloud operations
Geoff Arnold is an OpenStack architect with Cisco Cloud Services. He’s been a software engineer in the UK and the US for 45 years, during which time he’s worked on two distributed operating systems, a DBMS, NFS for PCs, a Java PaaS, two Unix workstation OSs, economic modeling systems for the UK Treasury, the control system for a nuclear reactor, distributed AI, the WinSock TCP/IP API, and two IaaS clouds. (He’s also been a systems programmer, a consultant, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and managed two business units.) For the last 10 years, he’s been immersed in cloud computing for companies like Sun Microsystems, Amazon.com, Huawei, Yahoo!, and Brocade.
