Q

What is your relationship to OpenStack, and why is its success important to you? What would you say is your biggest contribution to OpenStack's success to date?

A

I have been working extensively on OpenStack since January of 2012. I see OpenStack as an important leader to the increasingly proprietary, closed and anti-open “standard” clouds currently being sold and operated.

Other than being an evangelist for OpenStack, my other contributions include working on the creation of the OpenStack certification process that was released at the Summit in Austin.

Q

Describe your experience with other non profits or serving as a board member. How does your experience prepare you for the role of a board member?

A

While I have worked closely with Non-Profit boards, both in the tech space as well as IRL :) I have never served on a board. This would be a new challenge for me, but one I know that I can deliver.

Q

What do you see as the Board's role in OpenStack's success?

A

Promoting OpenStack's growth. While the growth to date has been great, keeping pace with other projects like Kubernetes and Docker will be key to the long term success of the OpenStack project.

Q

What do you think the top priority of the Board should be in 2016?

A

I believe that board's top priority in 2016 should be integration and working with container technologies. These technologies are key to the adoption of hybrid cloud at scale. Because of this these tools need to “just work” with OpenStack and this will in turn drive adoption of both OpenStack as well as the surrounding tools.
