Chief Security Officer

City Network

Stockholm, SE
Karlskrona, SE

What’s this gig about?

In a few words, you will take responsibility for the security of all information systems at City Network. And it’s a lot, so you need to be a high performer. You will work with people, software, hardware, and processes. You will be instrumental in reinforcing City Network’s position as the go-to company when it comes to regulatory compliant cloud services.

The CSO role comes with a multitude of responsibilities, including being part of our management team. We envision that you enjoy working both at a strategic and operational level. Further, you will be responsible for leading the security area internally as well as being the company’s representative towards external stakeholders such as Finansinspektionen, Datainspektionen, MSB, etc.

What will I be working on?

Your main areas of responsibility will be staff, physical and logical security, as well as regulatory compliance.

We need you to be an ambassador and thought leader for our security culture and design innovative organizational security measures. Our staff needs continuous training in logical security processes. We also require you to keep track of, maintain, design, and implement any relevant regulatory measures that our company or clients depend on.

What should I bring?

To be successful in this role, we think that your interest in security, IT, and regulatory compliance needs to go beyond a job description. For this particular role, we are only accepting candidates that are Swedish citizens.

Here are the skills that you’ll need to bring:

  • Able to communicate concisely and clearly in English.
  • Comfortable with contextualizing information.
  • Know how to write to be understood.
  • You need to be an inspirational leader
  • Actively follow the Linux core security team, the OpenStack Foundation security SIG, and other security-related communities.

Are there formal education requirements I need to meet, such as a degree in a particular field?

Typically, we would say that you need a university degree in law or IT-security. But if you can show a solid track record in previous CSO-like positions, that will do as well. However, we do require you to have a set of sound values that align with the company values of City Network.

What does my team look like?

You will be leading a small team of security experts and report directly to our CEO as part of our management team.

What does my work week look like?

We work Monday to Friday from our offices in Stockholm or Karlskrona. We don’t ever expect someone to work nights and weekends. (This should go without saying, but we prefer to be explicit about this.)

We also happily and routinely accommodate family obligations, morning (or evening) workout routines, and weekday errand runs.

Is travel involved?

Yes. As our CSO, we expect you to be available and foster our staff’s security culture. That involves regular travel between our offices. We also encourage travel to conferences and meetups. That will allow you to learn and share your experience with your peers. You should also plan for up to two team and company meetings per year, somewhere on the planet, that we’d like you to participate in.

What employment conditions apply?

This is a full-time position with six weeks’ vacation.

 Can I apply anonymously?

We need a working email address from you. If you prefer not to give your name or other identifying information in the initial application, you can withhold that. However, please be prepared to disclose your identity if you are selected to do an interview.

 I’m interested. What’s next?

We’d like to hear from you! And we have a few additional questions we would like to ask you. We are continuously reviewing, ranking, and interviewing applicants for this role.
