OpenStack Engineer



 Little About Us
The Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Engineering team is responsible for providing infrastructure on demand using OpenStack. Oath has a large investment in Data Centers and the engineering team is responsible in automating the entire set of operations from Cardboard to Compute. 

Lot About You
This role is with the back-end development team on the OpenStack engineering team and involves building core Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) functionality, APIs, and application logic. It will also require the ability to solve key business problems. You would be working on achieving on-demand & dynamic compute with on-demand network access controls and routing, hardware lifecycle management, capacity planning amongst others. This would entail designing & building new features, extending and maintaining OpenStack capabilities, improving operational reliability, security mechanisms, scalability/performance & submitting patches to the community. Other typical projects are integrating with partners and prototyping new ideas. We are looking for talented, self-driven senior engineers with strong written and verbal communication skills who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

Your Day 

  • Lead the design, and development of next generation Infrastructure as a Service, including core functionality, APIs, application logic, operational reliability, and scalability/performance
  • Work closely with product management and development teams to help define product features and  direction
  • Evangelize large scale OpenStack needs and influence the OpenStack community upstream
  • Draft and review architectural diagrams, interface specifications, class structures, and other design  documents
  • Build winning software and services using cutting edge open-source technology
  • Ensure exceptional quality and performance of components developed
  • Exercise agile development methodologies to create platform services and features
You Must Have
  • Experience working on OpenStack components such as Nova, Neutron, Keystone & Ironic 
  • Experience with design and implementation of large scale distributed systems 
  • Experience in operational reliability, security, authorization, CI/CD automation, optimization, monitoring, configuration management, debugging and troubleshooting in Unix/Linux environment, and high availability solutions
  • Experience with large network topology, architecture, deployment and performance 
  • Extensive experience writing Python/Java/C++/Go code 
  • Experience with relational databases (mysql, postgresql), key-value stores (redis, memcached), and/or cloud messaging technologies (RabbitMQ,zeromq)
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams in remote and international locations using excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience 
  • Preferred: Experience in use of open source tools and systems; comfortable with open source community and collaborative merit-based work where all ideas are heard and the best ones are implemented
