Technical Project Manager SAP

Location: Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

As part of SUSE expansion into OpenStack technical collaboration with customers and partners, we are looking for a hands on Technical Project Manager – Software Development to join our team in Walldorf, Germany. The role is a unique opportunity to grow and expand knowledge on both R&D side as well as customer relationship management.

Core responsibilities:

  • Work with the onsite customer R&D to define, agree and track common goals and deliverables
  • Deliver periodic updates about the progress of the technical collaboration and milestones to both customer and SUSE
  • Act as a customer advocate towards SUSE R&D and maintain a strong collaboration link
  • Prevent or handle escalations via agreed channels
  • Participate in hands on software development along with the other members of the team (at least 50% of time)
  • Coach members of the onsite software team in own area of expertise, keep goals clear to the team

Required skills:

  • Strong social skills and willingness to contribute to a success of an inclusive, mixed team of both SUSE and customer engineers
  • Capability to handle an environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • A structural approach to software delivery, including related processes and communication with stakeholders
  • Ruby/Python fluency, with proven hands on experience developing and shipping scalable web solutions (at least 3 years)
  • Experience contributing to OpenStack
  • Exposure to at least one modern configuration management solution - preferably Chef
  • Experience with source code management systems (ideally Github) and packaging

Bonus points:

  • Proven experience in the area of software project management, release management or similar area that involves stakeholder management
  • Experience working in an agile environment and good understanding of the role of the agile processes
  • Experience with software architecture, feature refinement and product scope definition
