<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\nHere, we\u2019re talking to Ghanshyam Mann from NEC. He tells the community about how he got started with OpenStack and his favorite memory from the last 10 years of OpenStack<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
How did you get started working with OpenStack and what are you doing now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was excited about working in open source, and OpenStack was my first open source software (OSS) project. It was part of my job in NEC. Currently, I am a Technical Committee (TC) member, doing contributions in Nova, Quality Assurance (QA), and various other projects where ever applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is your favorite memory from the last 10 years of OpenStack?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no single one, but the best part of my journey is working in open source and learning a lot from great people across the world. You can’t get that in closed source projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, I get a chance to learn about different cultures and grow myself as a human :).
<\/p>\n\n\n\nHow did you contribute to the OpenStack community?
<\/p>\n\n\n\nI am working as an upstream developer in the TC, Nova, QA, and other projects whenever needed. I am more interested in doing coding, coding, and coding :), and obviously learning new things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What advice do you have for the Stacker community and other growing open source communities based on your experience with OpenStack?
<\/p>\n\n\n\nI have my team working in different open source communities and discuss daily on how each community works and solves the issue. Based on that, I found the OpenStack community is more open and transparent (our four opens<\/a> strength). We might not be perfect but we are definitely one of the best open source communities.
<\/p>\n\n\n\nThere is no specific advice as such, but I will suggest keep doing the same and never compromise on defined four opens principles.
<\/p>\n\n\n\nIf I were to ask you in 2030, what do you think the OpenStack update will be?
<\/p>\n\n\n\nMy favourite will be: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“OpenStack continuing as one of the top three most active open source projects since last decade.”
