{"id":6708,"date":"2015-01-08T17:03:41","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T23:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/?p=6708"},"modified":"2015-01-09T12:05:45","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T18:05:45","slug":"women-of-openstack-working-session-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/women-of-openstack-working-session-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Women of OpenStack Working Session Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\" class=\"lead\"><span class=\"s1\">In\u00a0Paris, we added a new Women of OpenStack blueprint working session which gave our group the added opportunity to affect positive change for the Women of OpenStack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The goal of the blueprint session was to discuss the Women of OpenStack&#8217;s charter and outline our top priorities for the next 6 months. Much of our discussion and \u00a0brainstorming in the room centered on ways to increase mentorship, leadership, and public speaking opportunities for women working on OpenStack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-08-at-5.01.31-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6714\" src=\"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-08-at-5.01.31-PM-300x198.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-01-08 at 5.01.31 PM\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-08-at-5.01.31-PM-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-08-at-5.01.31-PM.png 499w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As the session concluded we decided as a group to focus on a few top priorities:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>1. Increase the communication among\u00a0the Women of OpenStack between Summits<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a result we have created a new Women of OpenStack mailing list. You can subscribe to the list here<\/span><span class=\"s2\">:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.openstack.org\/cgi-bin\/mailman\/listinfo\/women-of-openstack\"><span class=\"s3\"><b>http:\/\/lists.openstack.org\/cgi-bin\/mailman\/listinfo\/women-of-openstack<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Look for more frequent communication to help link us together including who are the Women of OpenStack, what are the projects they are working on, and how you can better connect<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">by subscribing and joining the conversation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>2. Positively influence the Vancouver and future\u00a0Summit&#8217;s content with more women speakers<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">To help you prepare a successful speaking proposal, the Women of OpenStack group is sponsoring a webinar on January 15. \u00a0Anne Gentle, Niki Acosta and Diane Mueller\u00a0will share their tips on creating a winning proposal for OpenStack Summits\u00a0and will answer questions during a Q&amp;A session. <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Designing an OpenStack Summit Session Submission for Success<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Thursday, January 15 at 11:00am CST<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Register: <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/openstack.enterthemeeting.com\/m\/KCWPKB2X\"><span class=\"s6\"><b>http:\/\/openstack.enterthemeeting.com\/m\/KCWPKB2X<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><br \/>\nI am excited that we have been able to take these\u00a0steps toward<\/span><span class=\"s4\">s<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0building a stronger foundation for our Women of OpenStack community. This is a team effort and I want to thank Anne Gentle, Johanna Koester, Claire Massey, and Allison Price for their ideas and dedication to the Women of OpenStack.
