{"id":4298,"date":"2013-06-07T13:13:03","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T18:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/?p=4298"},"modified":"2013-06-07T13:13:03","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T18:13:03","slug":"openstack-project-infrastructure-sees-rapid-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.openstack.org\/blog\/openstack-project-infrastructure-sees-rapid-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenStack Project Infrastructure Sees Rapid Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The OpenStack project infrastructure has grown tremendously over the<br \/>\npast year, and now is a great time to get involved in helping to run<br \/>\none of the largest and fastest-growing open source projects!<\/p>\n<p>The project infrastructure encompasses all of the systems that are<br \/>\nused in the day to day operation of the OpenStack project as a whole.<br \/>\nThis includes development, testing, and collaboration tools. \u00a0All of<br \/>\nthe software that we run is open source, and its configuration is<br \/>\npublic. \u00a0In fact, the whole of the project infrastructure is run in<br \/>\nexactly the same manner as the rest of the OpenStack project: anyone<br \/>\nmay contribute a configuration change via code review, and then a team<br \/>\nof core reviewers provides feedback and may eventually approve the<br \/>\nchange for merging.<\/p>\n<p>As the OpenStack project has grown, so have the services provided by<br \/>\nthe infrastructure team. \u00a0The code review system, Gerrit, now houses<br \/>\n134 source code repositories. \u00a0The scope of the project infrastructure<br \/>\nis so broad that it comprises 24 of those repositories, including<br \/>\nsoftware in languages such as Java, Python, shell, Ruby, and Puppet.<br \/>\nWe work on exciting projects that include how to test and facilitate<br \/>\ndistributed development at a large, and rapidly growing, scale.<\/p>\n<p>New contributors to the OpenStack project infrastructure are welcome.<br \/>\nWe recently began reorganizing our documentation to focus on helping<br \/>\npeople make their first contribution. \u00a0You can read about our systems<br \/>\nand how we operate at &lt;URL:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ci.openstack.org\/\">http:\/\/ci.openstack.org\/<\/a>&gt;.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions to the project infrastructure are highly valued by the<br \/>\nproject as a whole. \u00a0If you&#8217;re interested in helping the OpenStack<br \/>\nproject grow, and working with a wide variety of systems that impact<br \/>\nevery developer working on OpenStack sounds fun, we&#8217;d love your help.<br \/>\nIf you are willing to make a significant time commitment to the<br \/>\nproject infrastructure, we are scheduling a new-contributor bootcamp<br \/>\nin New York, NY on June 27 and 28. \u00a0If you&#8217;re interested in attending,<br \/>\nplease contact Monty Taylor\u00a0&lt;<a href=\"mailto:mordred@inaugust.com\">mordred@inaugust.com<\/a>&gt;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The OpenStack project infrastructure has grown tremendously over the past year, and now is a great time to get involved in helping to run one of the largest and fastest-growing open source projects!
